Kedryn Baskin, PhD
Assistant Professor
Primary Research Questions addressed by Dr. Baskin's Lab
The Baskin Lab investigates the crossroads of transcriptional regulation and metabolism. We have three main projects in the lab. 1) We investigate novel secreted proteins from the heart, called cardiomyokines. Our goal is to understand how and when metabolically active proteins are transcribed and secreted by the heart and how they regulate systemic metabolism. 2) We study transcriptional regulation by the Mediator Complex in heart and skeletal muscle. 3) We investigate mechanisms of inorganic phosphate sensing and signaling in skeletal muscle, with a focus on transcription and metabolism.
