The Ohio State Department of Horticulture and Crop Science held its third annual We Grow Scientists community event in partnership with COSI - Center of Science and Industry. This event showcases different STEAM activities to help young scientists engage in all that Ohio State University College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences (CFAES) has to offer.

FFH faculty program lead, Dr. Jessica Cooperstone and her student's led two fun activities designed to teach the young audience about horticulture and chemistry. Visitors to our table unleashed their creativity by painting with plant pigments while learning that fruits and vegetables are a source of natural colors we often use in food. At another station these junior scientists participated in cabbage magic, an experiment exploring acids and bases.

It was so great to see the capacity of the college and how that inspires interest in STEAM in our community and future Buckeyes. These interactive activity stations create special memories within the science community.
